Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church in San Luis Obispo, California, is a congregation of almost 500 members located one block from California Polytechnic State University. We are a branch of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, an association of 11,000 Lutheran churches with 5.2 million members.

We would love to welcome you into our Mt. Grand Opening this Summer!

Mt. Carmel now has a beautiful new addition to our building! Thanks to a few dedicated and talented individuals, we dedicated our new library this June and it is now open for all to enjoy! Come to the former "old kitchen" off of the fellowship hall to peruse the shelves, marvel at the 1574 Frankfurt Bible, or take advantage of our first official conference room.

Work & Repent Club Summer Plans

The "Work & Repent" Club will be meeting every Wednesday morning during the summer and has plans for a number of projects of around the church. Membership in the club is easy - no initiations, no dues, no secret handshakes - just come and help with some needed repair and repainting jobs around the church. All are welcome to participate. We will start activities on Wednesday morning, 8:30 to noon all summer.

Don't miss the annual Women's Retreat October 3-5 at la Casa de Maria. The weekend will be dealing with "Love that Feeds the Soul" and will be based on Elizabeth Gilbert's book, "Eat, Pray, Love." Our speaker will be Pastor Vera Guebert-Stewart. For questions, please contact Nancy P.

SMALL GROUPS

The following Small Groups have been active for years and are always looking for more people to join them.

Prayer Ministry: Requests can be made to the church office. 544-2133
Mommy & Me: Meets every Tuesday at 9:00am for grown-up talk and licensed child care available for the kids
OWLS: Bible study on the second Wednesday of each month at 2:00pm
Mt. Carmel Quilters: Meet in the Fellowship Hall first Wednesday of each month at 10:00am.
Mt. Carmel Women’s Bible Study: Meets in the Fellowship Hall the second Thursday of each month at 10:00am.
Friday Morning Garden Club: Meets every Friday morning at 8:30 to do yard work and spruce up the church property.
Men’s Bible Study and Breakfast: Meets every Saturday morning at 8:00am in the brick/kitchen area of the church. Gourmet breakfast is served along with spirited fellowship.
